The World Needs More Weather Champs, Not Just Users

At Weather Champs, we’ve said it before, and we’ll keep saying it: We don’t have users. We have Weather Champs.

It’s more than a tagline. It’s a belief that shapes how we build, support, and grow this platform. And recently, that belief was put to the test in a small—but meaningful—way.

A Weather Champ reached out through our support channel. They were having trouble logging in to the Android app, and at first, it seemed like a straightforward fix. We got them back into their account quickly. But then they hit a wall—one we didn’t expect.

Something in the app was preventing them from confirming their forecast prediction. A bug, plain and simple. One we hadn’t seen before.

They could’ve gotten frustrated. They could’ve walked away. Instead, they did what Champs do—they gave us a heads-up, stayed engaged, and trusted us to figure it out. That alone means the world to a small but scrappy team like ours.

Our technical support team acted fast. They communicated clearly and stayed close to the issue. But what happened next was the real difference-maker.

Chris Johnson, our founder and CEO, picked up the phone and personally called the Champ.

No script. No corporate buffer. Just a real conversation—one human to another.

He thanked them. Reassured them. Told them we were already working on the fix and wanted them to know they weren’t just a ticket in a queue—they were part of the team. Part of the reason this app exists.

“That call was such a surprise, and meant a lot,” the Champ later told us.“So much so, I’m changing my review in Google to a 5.”

Let’s be honest: there are plenty of apps out there, and plenty of companies chasing five-star reviews. That’s not what this is about.

This is about the kind of community we’re building.

Weather Champs is not just a game. It’s a platform powered by people—people who care about weather, accuracy, competition, and community. People who want to test their forecasting skills, but who also want to be heard. People who speak up when something’s not right—not to tear us down, but to help us get better.

That’s not something you get from passive users. That’s what you get from Champions.

They make forecasts. They test new features. They share feedback. They drive everything forward—sometimes quite literally spotting bugs we didn’t know existed. And when we respond with real conversation and accountability, something amazing happens: trust grows. Loyalty deepens. The app gets better—for everyone.

We’re a small team, and like any startup, we’re learning in real time. We make updates weekly. We squash bugs, chase edge cases, and roll out improvements based on what we hear from the field. But none of that would matter if we didn’t have people willing to go on this journey with us.

So to that Weather Champ who took the time to send a support ticket, talk to our team, and change their review: thank you.

To every other Champ who’s ever made a forecast, sent an email, left a rating, or told their friends: you’re the reason this works.

If you’ve ever played the game, even once—If you’ve ever caught a daily streak, bought a play pass, or joined the Hurricane Season contest—If you’ve ever thought, “I think I can beat the forecast…”

You’re not just a user. You’re a Weather Champ. And the world could use more of you.

Let’s keep building.
